Flash need to pull it together.

The season in the D League is long for the players, especially those that have just come out of college.

As I have seen it there are really three parts to the season. Early on the guys start the season with great energy but they are typically not in game-shape and they do not understand the plays. For those straight out of college or other leagues, often they do not have good flow for the pro game.

About midseason the guys get into a grove, and with a little luck and if the coach has done his job well, things will start to click. During this entire time you are trying to get wins. That never changes.

Then you get to the final 1/4 of the season. The guys know at this point if an NBA team was looking at them they would have had some indication. They realize 'I am now playing for my D League salary' and some disappointment sets in. Now the guys who should be in the NBA keep playing-keep hustling-because they know there is still time to get setup for a summer league team or a contract for next year. These are the guys you really want to see succeed.

We are fighting our way through right now. This is a tough week and although we made the playoffs last night there was no celebration. We lost. And we shouldn't have lost the way we did.

Tonight is crucial. For us the playoffs are meaningful if we get homecourt advantage. It remains in our hands but there is not much time left. We need a win.

It was a tough loss last night. We were so hopefully the Flash would pull ahead. We are excited for Fri & Sat games and hope that they can come out with 2 wins!
On a side note, we are season ticket holders and have through out the season been collecting the free shirts that have been thrown out during the games. Since none of the shirts we've collected fit my 4 year old son and I wanted him to have something for him to remember the many evenings we've spent watching the Flash team play, I used the shirts to make a quilt. You can see it on our adoption blog: kerryandmiranda.blogspot.com
I finally finished it this past weekend during conference and brought it to the game last night to hopefully collect signatures. I'm affraid that I am so late in the season as far as putting it together, that even with staying after the games on Fri & Sat, I'm not going to be able to get all of the players and coaches signatures. I was kind of hoping that if at all possible, there might be a way I can drop it off somewhere when there isn't the stress of the game and maybe see if I could get all of the players to sign the quilt. I was able to get Almonds and Koufos signatures last night. If needed, I don't mind dropping it off somewhere and picking it up later. Anyway, if that is possible, that would be so great! And if not, then that's ok too. I didn't think it would hurt to ask. Let me know what you think.
By the way...thanks for providing us with such a great activity for our family to enjoy during the winter months. We LOVE basketball and are excited to watch the team learn and grow! And, congrats to your father as well. My mother-in-law told me on Sunday, that she actually went on a date with your dad while they were both at BYU. :)

Thanks again!!
