I'm All In

I bumped into Jerry Sloan coming out of the locker room over the weekend after the Jazz had a great win over Chicago and he asked me; "are you having fun with the team?".

It seems to be the question most often asked over the past month. I'm not sure if that is because we are up and down or if I seem unstable at the games, but it is a fair question.

The answer is complicated and may depend on the outcome of the game that night. One thing is certain, I have never felt as emotionally invested or as passionate in a business as I do the FLASH. I have mentioned it before in posts but this has been the most surprising part of the whole experience of owning the team. I knew I would care, but not as much as I do. I think Larry Miller has developed a good poker face over the years and I would do well to learn that lesson.

Joe Brown (team President) and I have discussed this at length. He enjoys the experience-for me the experience is only truly enjoyable when we win. As big a Jazz fan as I am I have found the Jazz games relaxing in comparison to the Flash. I don't remember feeling 'relaxed' at Jazz games last year. Don't get me wrong, I still yell at the refs at the Jazz but I don't have quite as much invested.

It has reminded me that the more you are invested, emotionally in something, the more you care and the more you are willing to fight for your cause.

This week I am traveling to the All Star game in New Orleans. We have D League Owner Meetings and I will be there cheering on Fes and Mo in the game and competitions. I'll see if I can get in some decent All Star moments from behind the scenes on the blog. New Orleans should make for a great backdrop-last year I got held-up in Vegas-that may be hard to top.

Hope to see you tonight at the game-I'll be the one yelling, especially if we get behind.

There's a lot of people invested in the games with you B. Sometimes I can't believe how much bball I have seen this year. Thanks for bringing it to us!
